HUBBY HUMOR....

Rick had the day off and was finding things to do.  He exercised, ran some errands, conditioned our leather couches, then I mentioned to him why didn't he make the dessert that he has been wanting me to make.  I got out all the ingredients for him and told him he was ready to go!  A few minutes later, he calls me in.  I looked at him and asked him why he was using a pastry blender to mix up a cake mix and he said "because it was too thick for a mini whisk."  Of course, why didn't I think of that? LOL ;)  Then he called me in a few minutes later again.  He asked if we had any canola oil?  I said no, but this will work just fine.  I handed him vegetable oil.  He noticed that there was a can of canola oil PAM spray in the cupboard.  He said, "here's some canola oil, I'll use this!"  I said, "no, that's not the right oil."  He said, "yes it is, it says canola oil right on the can!"  "No", I said, "use the vegetable oil."  He explained to me that all he had to do was spray the canola oil in a cup until he had enough for 1/3 cup!  TeeHeeHee.  He makes me laugh!

Hubby Humor...

My husband, whom I love dearly, is a dork.  He always has something to say about something.  I decided that when he says something that actually makes me chuckle and wonder to myself, "where does he come up with these?" I was going to post them.  I've missed YEARS of his so called humor, but starting today, I'm going to record them.

Rick decided he wanted to go to the grocery store with me.  I threw on some shoes and headed out the door.  He looked at me with "that" look.  I asked him if he was embarrassed to be seen with me in public.  (I was wearing a brown hoodie, turquoise plaid lounge bottoms and they were tucked into my grey UGG boots)  He continued to tell me that I needed to go put something else on, at least different shoes.  He said, "You look like you're going to groom alpacas." Good thing I can just roll my eyes and laugh at him!

Finding Joy....

Today, the Young Women  and the leaders sang in sacrament meeting.  We sang "Valiant Faith."  The girls did a fantastic job and brought such a sweet spirit. Our ward has the most amazing youth and I am truly blessed to be amoung these wonderful young women.  They are such an example to me of purity and virtue and strength!

Later in our Mia Maid class, Sister Marrelli gave a great lesson on finding joy and happiness in our lives today.  It made me reflect on the joys of my life.  My greatest joy is my family.  I love being a wife and a mother. My other "great" joys are the gospel and my friends.  My life would be very different without them.  Then I thought about my "simple" joys, such as, a sunset, hearing my children laugh, a bubble bath, warm chocolate chip cookies, curling up to a good book, sipping hot chocolate by a warm fire, snuggling with my hubby while watching a movie, a smile from a stranger and feeling the sun on my face.  We should all take a moment each day to discover one thing that has brought us joy that day and see how that changes our lives.  What a wonderful life I have!

I was just thinking how grateful I am to be here, healthy and strong. This past year has been a long one with many struggles with my cancer and surgeries. I am blessed to have a loving Father in Heaven who was aware of me. I couldn't have gotten through this year with out the love and support of family and friends. I was able to reflect back on some of the highlights of this past year with a grateful heart to have been able to live and have these memories.

January 2011 - My family - I am so blessed to be close to my family and to know that Families Are Forever!
The 2 grads!!  Congradulations to Kinsie and Keiana.  College here you come!
Logan pitched most of this season.  He did pretty well considering he only started pitching last year.
Kinsie's final dance recital.  It's been 9 years of recitals.....seems strange that this is the last one.
Tubing the river.  We camped at Lava HotSprings, but the kids, and adults, thought this was a blast!
We went camping at Starvation Reservoir with friends and family.  Had a ball!  Kinsie's highlight is obvious.....seadooing with her cousin, Keiana.
Rick and I went fishing, up to Hoop Lake, with  my parents in July.  We caught a ton of fish.  Too many bugs though.
Kayaking up Beaver Creek in Oregon.  So peaceful and a beautiful day as well.
Hiking to the falls in Oregon
Oregon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moved Kinsie into her apartment at Utah State.  What a bittersweet moment.....the excitement of my first daughter going away to college and starting the next chapter of her story, and a mother's sadness knowing she'll never "really" live at home again.
Logan's pumpkin eating pumpkin.....eeeek!
We loved having the Bethers' and the Mannings for Thanksgiving - Nothing like family for the holidays!
A Shrader family tradition!  Decorating Christmas cookies.
Logan made this key holder for grandma and grandpa all by himself.  It was their Christmas present.  They loved it!

New Years Eve with the Turners

We love getting together with the Turners.  New Years Eve was great.  We played games and enjoyed my new chocolate fountain.  the party didn't end until 2am.
